OK – so here’s a few quick shout outs for news on people over the last few days…Well done to mercy who has her first job, natalie us presenting at the London marathon, Anna is presenting for top shop and has just interviewed Nicole Sherzinger (did we spell that correctly!?), Jesse has a meeting today, Rachel is off to la to present a new cooking series, Reece and Rebecca have been paired up to present a new show, Beth has her first job….I know there are more of you to mention as the success stories have been flooding in this week, caroline has done 2 Hollywood movies, so well done to everyone and thanks for the updates!

Phew – so there we did it!  The Presenter Studio is also busier than ever.  We have launched our own TV Production Company – www.thetvstudio.co.uk – go check it out!  And our training programmes are flooded with interest – usually all word of mouth from personal recommendations from people who have come to us already.

So here’s a quick mention to a few of you that have messaged us over the
last few weeks about your success: MC Timmy – channel 4 interest and 2
agents!; Anna Johnson – has just done her own TV show and has had her first
guest Nicole Scherzinger (am sure we spelt that wrong!); John Paul – pitched
Rebecca Perfect – too many jobs to mention including interviewing Gearge
Clooney; Anna Whitely – just signed with an agent: Nicky just done a pilot
for a new TV series; Natalie Orchard – just got her first job too…

Anyway, there is too much good news to mention here, but we just wanted to
say thanks so much to everyone for all their kind words about us – and we
are also very grateful for all your updates.

These are the questions you need to ask:

1.  WHO RUNS THE COURSE?  TV Presenter Courses have such a bad reputation in our industry.  If you want to get into mainstream broadcasting you need to be working with people who work in the industry.  Also find out what they did – was it their job to hire people?  If they are presenters how do they know what agents and producers look for, if they have never hired anyone themselves?

2.  ARE THE COURSES TAILOR-MADE?  The biggest mistake people make is that they go on courses that are packed and everyone reads the same scripts and ‘pretends to be a TV Presenter’.  Our industry DOESN’T hire presenters we hire PERSONALITIES.  So what you need is unique, tailor-made training to suit you!

3.  WHAT IS THE SUCCESS RATE?  Ask what the success rate is – and ask how they get the results.

4.  DO THEY KNOW THE INDUSTRY? Ask what contacts have they got?  You need to do a course that is connected to the industry – that feeds people in to a very risk-adverse business.  Ask questions like ‘who is the commissioner for entertainment at the BBC’ (the big boss!) or ‘what agents are good’ and see what answers you get back.

5.  WHAT MAKES YOUR COURSE DIFFERENT:  It’s a very difficult industry to get into TV and you need the best chance possible of success.  So ask why their course is different and what do they offer that no one else does.   And why they offer you the best chance of success.  These are all important questions to ask and if you don’t ask you don’t know, and making mistakes are costly!
