Displaying items by tag: how to do an interview

Check out this (rather awkward) interview with Hugh Grant at The Vanity Fair party for the Academy Awards.

Interviews are no easy thing to do especially when you have a guest who isn't responding so well. So what could have the host done differently here? Here are

5 tips that would have helped, that can be applied to any interview or panel you host.

1 - Do Your Homework. Interviews only work if you have done your research. You need to know your topic inside out. You need to be interested in the subject. Otherwise you may be caught out!

2 - Always think ahead. Have your next question ready but also listen at the same time.

3 - Make it your own and embrace the tone of the event - no one likes to be 'presented at'.

4 - Be prepared to fill in the gaps or give the information yourself. Some guests may not give you what you want or need, so then the focus falls on you.

5 - Have fun. In this case red carpet events are fun, so embrace the feel of the room!
