Gareth Davies

The training we offer at the Presenter Studio is like no other. Gareth Davies and Leon Campbell are two of the UK’s most in demand TV Producers.  They both met at the BBC where they were staff and have worked in TV for over 20 years, on some of TV’s biggest shows with TV’s biggest presenters.

A Producer in TV is very different to a Producer in film. A TV Producer is the creative visionary of the programme.  They put together the tea, share out the workload and then Produce the presenter – writing their script and giving them editorial notes.

So all the tips and advise we give at The Presenter Studio in our TV Presenter Training and Presenter Coaching sessions are the tips we’ve given to some of TV’s most respected names.

There is no other company that offers the bespoke advice and industry expertise as the guys do at The Presenter Studio.  As we always say – we are proud to be different.

So if you want to work with the best, and get seen by TV’s most experienced and respected Producers drop us a line:  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

WHAT MAKES A GOOD TV PRESENTER?

A presenter is the linchpin to any TV production.  It’s hard for a TV programme to be a hit unless the presenter works.  The simplest of ideas can be brought to life by a great TV presenter.   Take Deal or No Deal.  Without the jeopardy, drama and passion that Noel gives to that show, you’re not left with a lot.

The job of the presenter is to bring the show to life, to sell an idea or a format, and to help the viewer engage with the action.

Passion is an important word.  If you, as the presenter of the programme are not passionate about what it is that you are talking about how can the viewer connect with the programme.  It has to be an honest and genuine passion.  Viewers are becoming more and more TV savvy. They can sniff out when a presenter isn’t really engaged or doesn’t really care about the programme.  Take Emma Willis, or Presenter Studio client Rylan Clarke on Big Brother – they are both hugely passionate about the show – they are fans themselves and that’s why they work so well.

Or look at Tess and Claudia (who we’ve also worked with) on Strictly Come Dancing – they are the belles of the ballroom ball.  They are at the Saturday night party we all want to be a part of…and they make us all feel so welcome with their energy, smiles and great sense of fun.

So if you want to be a presenter, start by thinking about what you like doing. Can you turn one of your passions into your job?  If you are a fashion expert, like Presenter Studio client Karen Williams who presents 100 Per Cent Hotter on E4 why not try and get into fashion presenting?  Or like client Wilfred Frost who had a passion for business why not get into business presenting – he now hosts his own show over in America on CNBC.

TV Presenting is all about being yourself.  It’s what we call finding out ‘your brand’.  And if you want to turn your passion into presenting take a look at our award-winning fast track TV presenter training programme – we’ve just released a date in October too!  http://presenterstudio.com/book-now/presenter-training-booking

GEORGINA BURNETT FEATURES IN THE STANDARD

Georgina Burnett came on our 1 to 1 private TV Presenter training course.  Since then she has gone on to enjoy a really successful TV presenter career, and is regularly seen on the BBC.  It was nice to see her in The Evening Standard this week too!

Here at The Presenter Studio we not only offer TV Presenter Training but we also are great at spotting talent.  If you have the talent to succeed we will do all we can to get you to where you want to be.  So many of the names on our Wall of Fame are people who, until they met us, had never been on screen before - and that's what excites us.  We can then help mould and advise you as to where to go, and how we think you have the best chance of success.  Eshaan Akbar had a fantastic 2 page article on him last night in the Evening Standard newspaper - naming him as one of the BBC Asian Network's latest breakout talents.  Eshaan first came on our one day 'How to make it as a TV Presenter' workshop - we love these sessions as they are informal and allow us to meet a broad range of people.  Eshaan at the time had just finished a career as a bankder and was looking for a new career.  We spotted an untapped talent in Eshaan and advised him to come and work with us further on the award-winning fast track TV Presenter Training Programme.  In that programme we not only spotted a man who was was a great talent for TV but we also saw great comedy potential.  So we advised him to develop this side of his brand further and find a stand-up comedy course...and since then he hasn't looked back, appearing on the BBC and taking his new show Prophet Like It's Hot to Edinburgh.   This has all happened since 2014, so the future looks 'hot' for Eshaan!

A PLACE IN THE SUN

We support all of our clients who come and train with us.  And this also means that we put them up for work for free.  We have placed presenters on all the major channels - C4, Channel 5, ITV, BBC, and in America.  And this week our friends at A Place in the Sun one of Channel 4's longest running TV series contacted us asking for us to recommend presenters.  They have already hire Scarlette Douglas who came on our How To Make it as a TV Presenter workshop, and so we've got a good success rate.  So good luck to all our presenters who have completed one of our TV presenter training courses, London.

Presenting a Pilot on TV

We've just Produced a new gameshow pilot for one of the major channels here in the UK.  The presenter's role in a TV pilot is crucial to the success of the idea.  You need to bring the show to life, nail the tone of the programme and in this case make sure that the rules, format and gameplay of the idea come to life.  It's no easy job.  You'd usually, as in this case get a script read-through and then before you know it you are thrust into a studio, with all the cameras, contestants and a crew who are on a tight timescale and have to hit the ground running.  Presenting in this kind of set up isn't easy and everyone's eyes are on you - hoping that you'd add that little extra to the idea.  So if you get a call to present a TV pilot make sure you read and learn your script as much as possible.  You don't have time on the day to be working it all out.  Also have a good attitude, you are the final piece in the puzzle and good team work is important for the success of any show!

We've just added 2 new fast track presenter training course dates to the website for July and August.  July has sold out already and there are limited places for August.  Click here to book:  http://www.presenterstudio.com/book-now/presenter-training-booking/award-winning-fast-track-programme
